Last week, we reported that numerous collectors were finding the shipper containing the first wave of the Mighty Morphin Power Ranger Re-Ignition toys from Playmates Toy. Well earlier in the week Walmart's website published a few of the other items and I managed to snag two of the Blade Blaster roleplay weapons.
Package

Like all of the packages, the front showcases the five core Power Rangers' helmets on the side. The front of the package also features numerous call outs for the action feature of the Blaster Blaster, as well as a call out boasting 20+ phrases & SFX.
There is also a tag that wraps the handle with the words "TRY ME Press Trigger" on, where it allows you to demo the different sounds and phrases.
Underneath the Blade Blaster and on the back portion of the inner tray, it shows two images of how to switch the Blade Blaster into it's dagger mode with the text, "Morphs into battle" and "2 Weapons in 1".

The rear of the package has the "The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are five ordinary teens chosen to receive amazing abilities. They summon the spirits of their mighty Dinozords and morph into the incredible Power Rangers. When Evil Aliens look large, the Dinozords combine to form an even more colossal battle machine, the Megazord!" just like the other packages.
It also features the same "20+ Phrases & SFX" text from the front, as well as another set of images depicting changing it into the dagger mode with the text, "Blaster... Morphs into Blade!" and "2 weapons in 1".
Rounding out the rear of the package are the cross sells of the Power Morpher and the Combinable Dinozords.
Action Feature

So, we've already talked about it above, but it does indeed have an action feature, and it can change between the Blaster and Dagger forms.
When you change it between it's two modes, it triggers different sound effects as well as when you pull the trigger.
Unfortunately, it doesn't have the holster mode that the vintage and show counterparts had.
Comparison
As a kid I didn't actually own the role play Blade Blaster and Power Morpher set, I had a squirt gun version of the Blader Blaster (that I lost over the years) but this week saw me track down what I consider to be my Power Rangers Holy Grail and that was a vintage 1993 Blade Blaster Blaster with Power Morpher set (or Power Gun/Sword with Power Morpher as the vintage box says).

So right away you can see quite a few differences, namely the coloring. The Playmates version has a more show accurate paint job with white on the barrel of the Blaster and the 1993 vintage sports a black barrel.
Another difference is the Playmates version lacks the silver paint near the tip of the Blaster that the 1993 vintage one has.
The Playmates version is also a bit chunkier in size, giving it a bit more weight to it that then vintage 1993 version.
Their overall size is almost identical; however, the blades do have major differences in the fact that the vintage version has a silver and thinner blade, whereas the Playmates has a translucent red and thicker blade.

Overall, the new Re-Ignition Blade Blaster from Playmates is an absolute steal at it's $24.97 price (current price as of this writing on Walmart's website) and I highly suggest picking one up if you are missing it from your collection.
